Old Church vs. New Church (Brasil)
On the left, this church from Rio would not be out of place in Europe (e.g. Portugal..), while the modern church on the right from Brasilia definitely symbolizes the phenomenon of the New (evangelic) Churches in Brasil. I find both buildings beautiful in their own way.

The New Churches (like Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus) seem to be looking more into the 21st century. They appeal to people through simple and cheap slogans, true, but they do a lot of community work it seems. Action is better than prayer I think. Of course, there's the (frequent) money scandals, but as what concerns church, thats business as usual I expect :-) And if you've seen Godfather III, you know what I'm talking about...
