Allah is here (Guangzhou, Guangdong)

Yes, it's a Mosque! Quite a few of them in China. The prayer hall looks like a chinese building from the outside, but once I looked inside, I got the feeling of being in a different world - it's just so different from the city around it!

Street Interview (Guangzhou, Guangdong)

What am I doing here? These are some students for a movie academy or so in Guangzhou. We had a little interview for their work on foreigners coming into China, right in the middle of the street. I explained that I was interested in working in China, but in fact could not quite detail why... who knows, maybe most foreigners in China dont't know either!
Anyway, it was fun, and maybe on day you see me on cctv :-)

Shenzhen (Guangdong, China)

A few days in one of the newest cities in china, the Special Economic Zone of Shenzhen. Nothing much for sightseeing: new buildings, cars, more buildings and cars. There are some theme parks, with showcase plots for places and peoples in China and the world - even a smaller version of the Eiffel tower!

Now, the people have something: Shenzhen is a melting pot for people from all over China, migrating in search of oportunities to this city now of more than 10-million. It has also an interesting expatriate scene: truly world citizens, who have lived in a few different countries already, seem easy to find among the expats here. I met three: Ola Luis! Oi Osmar! Bonjour Caroline! And so, we can say that indeed China meets world at this city :-)

And the chinese girls here.. I never felt so much checked out! On the bus, on the street, at the restaurant. Zaijian, meimei!

Guilin City (Guanxi)

Ahh, Guilin.. the starting point for exploring the famous karst hills of Guanxi province. Though the city is a bit too touristy, it can be fun as well to observe the hordes of Chinese tourists doing their thing. From where I took this photo of the beautiful lit pagodas, I was surrounded by some 30 people, all of them competing for space to have their picture taken in front of this, and laughing and playing.

Hong Kong: Old & New

Hong Kong.. where tradition and full-scale modernity live side-by-side. It's actually much more pleasant a place than I ever expected, I met quite a few friendly people and it didn't feel so crowded at all. HK has beaches, parks, gardens - a place for everyone!
